Disheartened 5 November 2007

Another problem…! Aarghh… Hate to face it alone…
Wanna give up… the project: Deaf Voices – the Musical…
Tired of attending every practices. I need some personal space…
I envy those who can say “I cannot make it for the practice tonight because…”
I hate to recall several events when I had to make sacrifices on my personal dreams and friends.
I lost many friends in the end. I missed most of the opportunities to achieve some of my personal goals.
Enough of lamenting here and there…
Some tell me that I’m a leader. These are predictable. I can accept it. However, these troubles/problems are really too much! Tired to hear them every day… In the meantime, I pray “No more troubles coming every day”.
Jesus, I’m leaning on You… Be here with me.
A Heart Breaking Moment 4 November 2007

A moment when a lady sees her sweetheart off at the Changi Airport…
A moment when this couple then feels longing for each other…
A moment when they miss each other in their different locations…
A moment when they think back of their rendezvous where they spent their precious moments together…
Really a heart breaking moment when I see her crying for her loved one…!
Here, crying for them as their good friends…
Deep inside my heart, I wish this barrier would be vanished forever.
This couple is really special! It’s their love where everything is boundless! May they be blessed forever! *praying*
International Signs (Gestuno) 4 November 2007

Attended the IS workshop organized by the DHHFS. The speaker is Mohamad Sazali Shaari from Malaysian Federation of the Deaf, KL. It’s really a good refreshing one since I last attended the WFD Youth Camp in Brisbane, Australia in 1999. Learnt most of the IS from the “whites”.
Now, little different from the ones of the “whites” because most of the IS are adapted to the Asia. The system remains the same; ~ 5-hand shapes
~ mouth movements
~ picture-picture-picture; no words usage
~ light signing
~ subject-verb grammatical structure
~ heavy usage of classifiers
*FYI: “International Sign Language (Gestuno)” shall be corrected to “International Signs (Gestuno)”.
Just came to know that Mr. Sazali was here to help prepare the deaf volunteers & participants for the upcoming event – ASEAN Deaf Camp 2007 that is scheduled from 21 November to 24 November. He guided them how to use IS on:
~ Proper greetings
~ About Singapore
~ Handling meetings and other matters such agreements (Green – Yes, Red – No, Yellow – Neutral)
For me, I was only there to learn as I like sign languages. And, I have another purpose – to share it with my friends who contribute to the deaf community.
Not only this, but I missed that chance! Dennis asked me whether I was interested about the IS Seminar conducted by Billy Moody. It was in Hong Kong. But too bad, I had my presentation ceremony where I would have marimba. They had clashed with each other. =(
Guess, I did quite badly in IS this time. Hardly using it for a quite long time since 1999. Hmm, perhaps, I can keep “skipping” (in IS translation: practising) on it. Hope that I can use IS to sign out at this event. Due to my work commitments, I am unable to participate in the camp for 4 full days. But I can attend the closing ceremony dinner since it falls on a Saturday. Also, I will be performing there. Another challenge!

A long time that I haven’t posted anything here…
Well, you all know that I’m a busy lady. Busy as ever!
Besides my weekday work (9AM-6PM), look at what I do in the evenings:
Mondays: Musical Practices at MVS
Tuesdays: SL Classes at MVS
Wednesdays: SL Classes at HSBC
Thursdays: Practices/Planning
Fridays: Musical Practices at MVS
Saturdays: Band Practices at CSH; Percussion Practices at VSA; Dance Workshops at MVS
Sundays: Practices/Planning
Above all, I only know that I’m working very hard for the project: Deaf Voices – the Musical. Together with a team of dedicated volunteers, we hope to see this successful achievement on 1 December! It’ll be at Civic Plaza. 5PM.
This has its blog and do check it out at http://deafvoices.wordpress.com
Hmmm, it’s confirmed that my last day with full-time admin work is on 30 Nov. I chose music over it.
Guess, I got to go back to my old, usual life: 3 part-time jobs. So now, I got to find another one since I still have 2 same jobs. I have to be more strict with my spending habits. May the Great FORCE be with me!!

Just a thought of mine…
Here in Singapore, we have our first IDD winners: Mr. Teo Bee Chuan & Miss. Tan Yen Yen.
For our dear Tan Yen Yen, she should be sent to participate in the Miss Deaf World 2007 competition by representing Singapore. This really sounds cool if this really happens!
Too bad, we missed it this time. Perhaps, it can be brought to SADeaf for future participations. =)
No Flash! 18 October 2007

Couldn’t sleep tonight. It was really another nightmare to me. Flashlights, flashlights… I hate them!
I know I did quite badly in my first song performance: Radetsky March. I was greatly affected by poor lighting and flashlights from cameras. I hate flashlights, they really blinded me when I tried to read the score and play on correct bars.
Bad memories flashed back in my mind. That was my first nightmare when I performed my solo song – Happy Mallets. Stage lighting was really strong, I couldn’t see Mr. Teow conducting. I was blinded by those lighting. At that time, I needed him so that I could play together with the band. Somehow, I managed to have my faith in myself and finally, I came back to the correct bars to play with them.
Now, flashlights are really dangerous. I guess, I must remember to inform the photographers not to take photos of me with flash when I perform mallet percussion.
Well, I can say, it was another experience I gained from my performance. Lesson learnt!
My BIG Day! 17 October 2007

MY BIG DAY!!
TIME: 4PM
VENUE: TIGERLIVE, ST. JAMES POWER STATION
One month ago, I’ve informed that I have been chosen as the first recipient to benefit from the VSA Talent Development Programme. A marimba is purchased to fulfil my dream of being a percussionist.
VSA has established this Talent Development Programme through a generous donation from Asia Pacific Brewery (Tiger Beer). In this programme, we hope to provide assistance to talented people with disabilities so that they will be able to develop their talent to the fullest.
The Presentation Ceremony has been scheduled tomorrow.
During the ceremony, Ms Amy Cheng of Fly Entertainment will present a song item. I will also put up a short performance on the marimba and sign a song together with her friends. Quite nervous about it!
Some of my juniors, friends and others are invited to witness this ceremony. They are there to support me. Truly grateful to them!
Still, I will do my best I can!

This time, I decided to quit my job at ECSF. Will submit my resignation letter on next Monday. It’s a month’s notice, so my last day with ECSF will be in the end of Nov.
I’m now looking for a part-time job and I believe I can get it between Oct and Nov. With it, I believe that I will have more time for my music plans and other things.
May FORCE be with me!
