Band in Practice!

Yesterday, I had the final rehearsal with this band at the University Cultural Centre. I helped in touching up their playing.. Mr. Teow asked the band to play with their feelings. Even, he asked them to remember putting on a big smile..

Hmm, this reminded me of my days.. In my days, he only asked us to remember to give the audience a big smile as usual.. But he didn’t ask us to play with feelings in the last time. I suppose, our old times was better than the present ones.. We were bigger than them in the number only. Well, this can’t be compared. With time, there will be always changes..

Band in Action!

Tonight, they were performing 3 items: Geylang Si-Paku Geylang, Skater’s Waltz and Thai Song. Hmm, the Thai Song is the best of three. I like this music very much and even, I could remember its melody without reading the lyrics. The Geylang song is really an old song which I played together with my bandmates in my old times. But this is now in G-major. Ours was in C-major. Same melody but different majors..

The Skater’s Waltz is like a waltz dance of the skaters.. It’s just that the band didn’t know how to play this melody in a correct mood. They only learn how to read notes. They always ask me how to play this and that. I have my great fun teaching them. They need alot of time to understand the fundamentals of music fully. But one thing which I’m very impressed with is their unity and love for music.. Unlike mine, they keep on asking one another to play together without the presence of Mr. Teow.

Again, I can say, times is forever changing. This really brings me back the beautiful memories which I spent together with the band for almost 10 years.. I guess, those who were in band, will surely have their great fun!!

Only for fun. Or perhaps, I was only practising.. I got another work in graphics design and I’ll start this in mid-Sept. This time, I got 4 part-time/freelance jobs.. And therefore, I will be very busy from mid-Sept to Dec. Hope I can manage with many things..

Thanks to Fern who got us free tickets to this, I finally got the chance to listen to their percussion music. Last year, I heard about this group and this specialises in percussion. Since then, I often missed their performances as they clashed with my work schedule.

Hmm, just a thought.. If I set up a percussion thingy under XTOMIC, we will be like them, making noises. I guess, this will takes a longer time for us to reach the level of music. Above all, I believe that we will enjoy playing percussion together.

Nearly, I forgot about this Fireworks Festival 2004. I missed all of them, except for Singapore’s firework gig. I managed to see those fireworks after the practice at SADeaf last Sunday. I’m grateful to Xuehui for telling me anyway. Hmm, those fireworks are very beautiful to see and this brings a short-term happiness to everyone..

Remember playing Tic-Tac-Toe when you were young? This time, you can relive your memories by playing it again, but on foot this time! Interested?

As you know, Tic-Tac-Toe involves a 3 x 3 grid i.e. there are 9 squares. This time, each square represents a KFC outlet. At each outlet, you will have to complete a game to pass the station and get a ‘O’ for that station. The aim of this event is to get 3 ‘O’s in a straight line, vertically, horizontally or diagonally. Sadly, I can’t go for it as I have my music teaching work. Even worse, I couldn’t take the leave. I wish I could join..

Last night, I went to watch this AVP movie with Elaine, Richmond and his mother. They got free tickets for this, so they asked me..

Hmm, this movie is really lame. No storyline.. Not up to everyone’s expectations. As said earlier that it will be an ultimate battle, I beg to differ and there’s a little fighting between them. Moreover, it has a funny ending. I strongly recommend you all not to watch the movie at the cinema. Not worth spendng $6-$8! And I think you’d better rent dvd or vcd.. Up to you..
