Lesser Obligations, More Anxiety 26 May 2005

I’m glad that my obligations are getting lesser. I have withdrawn myself from the SADeaf’s Carnival committee last Friday. Now, I’m doing the letter of termination on my service to be the sign language instructor and I will submit it after my June-July batch is over. And, I’m stepping down from being the Chairman of XTOMIC on this coming Sunday. The future of XTOMIC will be in the hands of the new Chairman soon. I will be the Advisor, having no powers over XTOMIC.

As for the YouthBeat, I’m glad that I have stepped down as the Vice-Chairman. I heard that it’s now being revived under the group of hearing volunteers. Anyway, I can support their activities by publicising them through words of mouth or emails.

I can say to XTOMIC, YouthBeat and SADeaf, “ALL THE BEST IN YOUR ENDEAVOURS”.

More anxiety coming in… I dare not think of anything negative. For now, I must concentrate on my music revision and my ABRSM exams is coming in July. At the same time, I’ll continue to send the letters of sponsorship to corporate companies no matter how much hard-up I’m.. I’ll continue to look for other resources..!

I MUST STAY ON!!

Inspiration to Share 26 May 2005

I read that article and it’s really an inspiration to share…

“There is a saying, ‘If you depend on a mountain, it might fall, it you depend on people, they might run, it is best to depend on yourself.’ You must try to achieve your goals by yourself. You must learn to take responsibility, and to face and overcome your problems.

From our experience, we find that most people give up due to the 4 ‘F’s (Fear, Force, Face, Faith). We firmly believe that in any line of work, you will not succeed if you do not meet the expectations. Actually, unless a person gives up and run away from meeting challenges, there is no failure in this world. Doing any business is like taking part in a race. Once on the track, the athletes must endeavour to complete the race. That is the spirit that every one must possess.”

Time to Say HAHAA!! 24 May 2005

THAT Airline!
A chap, sitting in Danny’s Bar at Singapore’s Changi Airport, noticed a very beautiful woman sitting next to him. He thought to himself, “Wow, she’s so gorgeous she must be a flight attendant. But which airline does she work for?”

Hoping to pick her up, he leaned towards her and uttered the Delta slogan: “Love to fly and it shows?”

She gave him a blank, confused stare and he immediately thought to himself, “Oh crap, she doesn’t work for Delta”.

A moment later, another slogan popped into his head. He leaned towards her again, “Something special in the air?”

She gave him the same confused look. He mentally kicked himself, and scratched Singapore Airlines off the list.

Next he tried the Thai Airways slogan: “Smooth as silk”.

This time the woman turned on him “What the f**k do you want?”

The man smiled, then slumped back in his chair, and said, “Ahhhhh, Qantas!”

Mistaken Identity
A blonde woman was speeding down the road in her little red sports car and was pulled over by a woman police officer, who was also a blonde. When the cop asked to see the blonde’s driver’s licence, she dug through her purse, getting progressively more agitated.

“What does it look like?”, she finally asked. The policewoman replied, “It’s square and it has your picture on it.”

The driver finally found a square mirror, looked at it and handed it to the policewoman.

“Here you are”, she said. The blonde officer looked at the mirror, then handed it back saying, “Okay, you can go I didn’t realize you were a cop.”

My Birthday Wishlist 23 May 2005

My birthday is coming soon on 30 May… Hmmm, Huishan asked me to put up my birthday wishlist in my blog. Well, my wishlist is too expensive for them and therefore, I dare not put it up here. I would rather not have them buying me presents that I may not need.

Perhaps, I may not spend my birthday on the day itself. I will be hanging around at the TYPE KFC after my sign language teaching work at Raffles Girls’ School.

Right now, my wish for this year is to get enough funding and necessary materials for my UK studies. Hope this wish will be fulfilled… *praying*

Cannot Have What I Wanna 23 May 2005

Hmmm, last weekend seemed to be my unlucky days. I went for the IXUS Challenge that actually lasted for 3 days (20 May to 22 May). According to this challenge, one participant has to strike his/her MOST COOL pose in order to win a Canon IXUS 700 worth $849.
The first one was at Raffles Green and I didn’t know where it was exactly. So, I gave it a miss. The second one outside the Ngee Ann City and the last one outside the Paragon, I went down with a hope to win a camera because I do not have my camera. The winners got it through their hand-stands related to the HIP-HOP breakdance and again, they were somehow the friends of the dancers who co-organised it.

Yesterday, I went to Meritus Mandarin Hotel for the Vesak Great Joy Party organised by the Singapore Buddhist Welfare Services. It got its programme which showcased the Birthday stars born in the month of May. These Birthday stars will receive hongbaos worth $20 each. Although my birthday falls in May, I do not receive any hongbao. It’s because of Dawn. She forgot to inform the organisers about my participating for the party. It’s considered as a last-minute notice that I joined it although I submitted my reply to her by email two months ago. So sad!!

Singapore Arts Festival is back!! And, Singapore Street Festival is back again!! Street Revolution still stands in our hearts!! I’m so excited about this. Ha, I even marked those dates in “My Adventures in 2005″ to watch those performances in percussion music. PERCUSSION is UNIVERSAL and GREAT!!

Mr. Syed approached me about this Community Drumming Festival. And, I do not expect myself to participate in this event and I look forward excitedly to it!! Right now, I need to get 30-50 participants as a group under SADeaf XTOMIC as I promised. Here the details are amended below:

[Invitation to Participate in Community Drumming Festival 2005]
There is a Community Drumming Festival held from 15 June to 18 June 2005 focusing on a performance consisting of various ethnic percussion instruments by 3000 performers. This serves as a platform for youths to acquire aesthetic skills for life as well as to introduce passion and appreciation for the arts and culture.

Students from schools are invited to participate and they will be trained by professional percussionists and a chance to interact with the various renowned artistes for the event. The students will also be awarded participation points under the CCA grading system.

More information on the organisers:
The People’s Association Youth Movement(PAYM) is a non-profit youth organisation that aims to involve young people in youth-initiated wholesome projects and activities. Since its inception in 1971, the PAYM is proud to have made tremendous impact on the lives of many youths and in the process, developed many outstanding youth leaders.
As part of a series of events for PAYM Youth Month Celebrations, the Youth Executive Committees(YECs) in the South East Region will be organising “Community Drumming Festival” in conjunction with the Singapore Arts Festival 2005. This Festival will see an estimated turnout of 5000 participants and audience that will come together for a highly powerful drumming performance through a fusion of oriental and western beats.

Seeing Hope 10 May 2005

Truly grateful to Nora for helping me with my seeking financial support.

Just now, Nora and I worked together to send the Straits Time Life an email on my music story, with a hope to have sponsorship support from the readers. If the Straits Time covers my story, it may reach out to more readers indeed.
Earlier on, most of you know that my article was published in Lianhe Zaobao. From there, there were only 2 readers who called in. It was sadly disappointing!

Looking forward to have a positive reply from the ST Life… *praying hard*

Sad & Worried 9 May 2005

Just now, I received an email reply from Sr. Anne that she presented my case at Canossian School’s Board Meeting. From there, they won’t help in my funding. And they suggested that I have to approach some corporate companies like LEE Foundation for financial support. Hmm, I’m a little upset. But I am not really disappointed or angry as I do not put any high hopes in this Canossian School.

It’s alright with me.. And now, I have to buck myself up to send letters to corporate companies. I will continue to do so until I have enough funding. *praying hard*

Now, I’m worried about myself.. I guess I need to stop my work at KFC for some time. I have to spend more time on what I need very much to do. Meanwhile, I’ve made some plans:

  • Backing out from SADeaf-IDDeaf’s Interactive Carnival on 20 May.
  • Stepping down from XTOMIC as Chairman on 29 May.
  • Taking up the last sign language teaching batch of June-July: perhaps 2-3 classes.
  • Writing resignation letters to SADeaf and KFC.
  • I know there are alot of things for me to do.. and still, I have to take a small step at one time. At the same time, I really need moral support from you all. It’s very terrible doing everything on my own.. Sometimes, I have been bottling everything inside of me since then. My friends & readers out there, be there with me… Do pray for me and I’ll be grateful…

What My Blogspot Changed? 8 May 2005

I just removed the background music here. This gave most of my readers a big problem – showing an error message box. So, I’m being considerate here, having this removed. Added some things like a photo of myself as MY PRIDE and my flickr photo link. Also, I made some small amendments to my blogspot.

It looks quite GREAT to me after all changes I made to this humble site of mine. :D
