Trace II represents four separate but not entirely unconnected conditions of the human self in search of its identity.
Mennono sees us diving into a mysterious, blue universe, with movements inspired by the art of Butoh. The gestures unfold in an almost imperceptible way, fusing movement, architecture and sign language of the deaf and dumb.
Through the endeavour to grapple with and escape from binds that confine the body, the works demonstrate how energy and adrenalin allow for the liberation of the soul.

Attracted to this, I decided to buy a concession ticket, with a help of my cousin. Thanks, Vivian! I hope to watch this show on 10 February 2007, Saturday and at the same time, I can learn something new…
And now, I’m sharing this with you since most of my readers know sign language and appreciate performing arts. Hope to see some of you around on that day. =)
Survivor Singapore II 29 January 2007

Today, I had the full-dress run. Quite tiring..
For now, my role for this show is to interpret every character. It’s a challenge for me…
Initially, I was to sign songs only since I’m very experienced at it. I came to know my role clearly after attending the rehearsal for my first time last Saturday. The songs were removed.
I was panicked about it, so I decided to hire an interpreter to help me with this interpreting.
How can it be done?
On stage, I follow the signing most of the times. And, I will try to sign in deaf language if I can. At the same time, the interpreter will interpret the show for me.
Sounds like it’s redundant. No choice since I’m paid to sign the show. I guess I can make use of this best situation since it has been arranged and published.
I’m trying my best… Two-ways interpreting is something new to me. I haven’t done it before. Again, I do not have any proper trainings or experiences. With some advices from my friend and my knowledge, I hope to do my best… Also, I hope to do a right thing here…
Alright, let me share my experiences about two run-through rehearsals that I attended just now. In the afternoon, without any help from the interpreter, I can be able to follow the show, provided with the script. There got two scenes which Kumar acted in. They are very difficult to follow since Kumar added in more words or he changed his own parts. Another one which Karen acted in, she spoke quite fast! I couldn’t catch up with her.
There got another scene that depicts a talk-show involving six characters. Oh my gosh! Me alone, signing all of their parts. To overcome these difficulties, I can only summarize the scene.
Later in the evening, my friend Alex came in to help me. He’s my saviour!! Hahaaa… To appreciate his efforts in helping, I treated him to a dinner. Alright, he’s a newbie in this interpreting area and at least, he can learn and improve his signing and interpreting skills. Meanwhile, I have learnt some new things and for now, I can only memorize most of the script as much as I can. Also, I will practise my signing and expressive skills.
Okay, I hope to do a better job on this coming Wednesday and Thursday. May God bless me…

A group of students have been given the task of creating projects that ‘think outside the box’. They wrack their brains to find what they can do that will really MAKE A DIFFERENCE. Instead of going on filed trips learning to make ketupat or performing a multi-racial dance, they decide to create projects that will make young Singaporeans VALUE LIFE and not take their comforts for granted. They decide to create Survivor Singapore. But… have they gone too far to prove a point?
A must-see for every teenager, Survivor Singapore, written by Haresh Sharma and directed by Natalie Hennedige, touches on issues such as identity and community, and the youthful passion to fight for what you believe in. Entertaining and thought-provoking.
Starring Karen Tan, Charmaine Ang, T T Dhavamanni, Najib Soiman (bijaN), Phin Wong and Kumar.
The matinees will be sign language interpreted performances.

What a Busy Week! 29 January 2007

Sorry, I haven’t updated my blog for more than a week. Recently, I took up sign language assignments to teach two new resource teachers who will be deployed to the BHSS and BLSS. They are now being given intensive trainings that require them to finish up to the Advanced Level “without any break”…
That’s really crazy! It’s all from the MOE… I hope they can overcome this.
Now, I’ve been teaching them at the BS2 and BS3 levels till tomorrow and they can be able to sign fluently and expressively.
May the Force be with them…
Made a Big Mistake 18 January 2007

Just now, I made a big mistake. Quite serious!
Alone at home, I was practising my techniques and exam song on marimba. Then, I decided to boil water and I knew it took some time to be done. I went back to my practice and when I did some revision, I clean forgot about the boiling water. I dozed off…
Suddenly, my mother came home and woke me up. Scolded me badly. Just realized about it and the water had been boiled to the dry. My biggest mistake…!
So, I decided to do some reflections inside my room.
On Holiday 7 January 2007

It has been 1 week since I quit my job. I’m on my “holiday” – to clear my personal work. I managed to complete the SL task (lesson materials). The next thing is XTOMIC documents that I need to close.
At this moment, I do not wish to look for a full-time work. I guess I need to establish some contacts for my future work related to freelance performing. To achieve that, I have to prepare my porfolio in my form of CD/VCD and send many to appropriate organizations. Not only that, I need to send them to overseas institutions and organizations for a hope to find opportunities in studies & work.
And, I’m not very keen to live in Singapore. It brings me a lot of frustrations and sometimes disappointments. So difficult to live here. I really hate to live like Singaporeans and that’s not my type.
Where shall I become my dreams realities…?
To make this real, I have to do a lot of thinkings. Also, I have to take actions on them. And, I need someone to advise me on some things that I may overlook or miss out.
I pray… May GOD guide me all the way! +++ AMEN!

Spring-Cleaning 1 January 2007

Today, I stayed at home all day… to do spring-cleaning my room.
Oh my goodness, it’s really dirty!! Alot of junk things to throw… And, I have some unwanted things to sell. I haven’t finished my spring-cleaning till now. Hope to finish it tomorrow.
Another thing, my computer had been formatted since 25 December. I need to finish up my work documents – Joy Place, ACCENT, SADeaf (sign language) and XTOMIC. They are in higher priorities and I hope to finish them up by this Saturday 6 January.
Looks like this week will be busy for me…
